Lecturer (Assistant Professor)

University of Glasgow

Hi, I’m a lecturer in the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow. My research focuses on biomedical text mining and machine learning. I’m particularly interested in extracting biomedical knowledge from text (e.g. research papers) to make it easier for scientists to find the information they need.

My background includes postdoctoral research in the Helix Group at Stanford University and a PhD at Canada’s Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

Currently, I am co-leading the Glasgow AI4BioMed Lab with a focus on high-quality extraction of genetics knowledge from the research literature and careful application of NLP and LLMs to patient records.
